Set amidst a sprawling 50 acres, and surrounded by undulating, yellow mustered fields the Laxmi vilas Palace is built for Raja ragunath Singh, the younger brother of then Bharatpur ruler, Maharaja Ram Singh. An electric and lively feature of Rajput and Mughal architecture, the palace was earlier called Raghunath Niwash though locals always prefer to call it Kalka Ji Ki Kothi.For almost a hundred years, the the Laxmi Niwas Palace the Laxmi Niwas Palace has been prime witness to, and a participant in almost every eventful happing that took palace in the princely state of Bharatpur-royal weddings, affairs of the court and royal weddings, affairs of the court and royal duck shoots.
